Repair shop service

How long do you give a shop to fix a problem with your vehicle before you call bull****, and take the vehicle back; problem fixed or not?

I would think they either haven't started or they goofed something up. What are they telling you the hold up is?

They told me yesterday that they should have it done today. They haven't even started it. I passed the shop after class today, and it was in the same spot it was after I gave it to them.

Time to get face to face with the head person in charge. Get a definite answer and make your decision based on what you are told.

I would definitely say something too them at this point

I know how you feel. I had to get the heads replaced on my 460 a few years back, and they had the truck for almost 3 weeks. Unfortunately they took it apart the first day, and it sat there the rest of time with half the engine scattered across the floor, so I couldn't really just take it home. When I did finally get it back the pcv valve was rigged up with some air compressor hose and whistled really loud, they twisted up the dipstick tube bracket, and the manifolds leaked like a son-of-a-gun.

Oh, and they lost the radiator cap, which I found a few days later on top of the intake manifold.

No, another company rebuilt the core, and arranged with this shop to install it.

Well I swung by the shop, and in the past five hours they have managed to park it in a corner, put it on jack stands, and remove the drive shaft and starter. In other words they're holding it hostage.

I assume they won't be back until Monday? Sounds like a nice place...

Had my '96 Explorer in for a start-no start issue. Week later, stopped by to be nosey. No fix/No ideas. (Meanwhile I have been researching issue...) I mentioned the fuel pump relay... (Crickets) I said, yeah, hows that look? He speaks with the mechanic, and sure enough, that was it. I climbed back in my 150, and went back for the Explorer. Been 2 years no issue... (didn't get charged for the new fuel pump...)
