Here's my official Np435 to ZF-5 swap thread,... IT's DONE!

I quoted '1992' But I found the tube was way "incorrect"
Went to a local bone yard and saw a 1988.
This hade the tube configuration I wanted.
So to answer the question, specify the 1988 model over a 1992....
I am finding very difficult to get the tube snapped into the slave,... is it supposed to be a fight? or just "snap in"?????

Do your homework before you get this one... Top hole is further in and mounting flange is bigger than a stock unit from a 94 F-350.

Found out the problem, (details in "pissed at NAPA" thread")
They had the wrong slave cylinder in the Ford box, the slave had a tapered port, the Clutch line is straight shouldered.
Had them order the "identical" slave, and this one fit on the connector, so I had to pull the Tranny and T-case again......

It's Done! Did a Victory lap (on a milk create)
Got the driveshaft back today, had to shorten it 3.5"
Tried to install it but the steel plate that protects the gas tank from a shaft explosion would not allow the install of the shaft. So I did not want to remove it (shaft fit that way) so some last minute engineering modifications and the shaft fits fine.
Tomorrow I'll finish up on the sound deadener (dynamat) and install the tranny cover, carpet and bench seat. and then hit the highway for actual tac readings against the NP 435!
So the basic cost breakdown for me was:
$400.00 for the Smallblock ZF
$5 for the tranny cover.
$218 for a Master, Slave and hydraulic line.
$75 for resurfacing the flywheel.
$175 for the 11" clutch.
$125 for cutting off 3.5" from the rear driveshaft
The conversion cost me $998 in U.S. Dollars, and 18+ labor hours of aggravation, turning "onions into onion rings"....and they do taste real good!

Hi Gary
Just the 1-mile victory lap done and I love it already, but the real durability proof will be some mileage on it and getting it up to operating temp (for real).
I chose not to rebuild it, and rolled the dice on installing.
Person I bought it from tried to install it in his '86 F-350 wrecker (had the original tranny/T-case out) and found out it was for a small block and not compatible to his wrecker.
He said he pulled it from a running donor, (mileage unknown) and since he was trusting it for his revenue truck, I figured it's a running tranny... we'll see.
On the "victory lap" I went through all the forward gears and reverse and it's "quiet" and a tranny can be with no tranny cover (or interior).....

Don't panic if when you put it in reverse sometimes it makes a terrible noise and pops out of gear. Seems to be a trait with higher mileage zf's, mine does it and another one I drove did it also. You just have to make sure it's all the way in reverse before you let out the clutch, you will get to know when it's in and when it's not.
