6.5L Diesel conversion
So I have an 01 super duty with a 6.8L V10. She's running strong at 250k but I'm starting to think she's gonna go soon. I love that truck and have been milling around the idea of converting it over to a diesel. Through my research I have found numerous people doing a cummins swap. However if I'm going to drop a late 90's motor in her why not a 6.5L? Has anyone ever heard of this or seen it done?

There's a reason for that. The GM 6.5L is a turd. They have fairly significant design flaws and people rarely get more than 300k miles before they have to be torn down. In that 300k miles they have sunk a ton of money in it keeping it on the road. In my opinion it's because you have to wind them up so high to get any power. The 5.9L makes the same power as the 6.5L, but at half the RPMs.

Probably be better off trying to make the v10 into a diesel. The 6.5 was to high of compression had all sorts of design issues. Ive seen some diehards that have built them to be comparable to a stock 7.3.. power wise but a stock 6.2 ford truck could probably be very competitve and cheaper than the swap.

They are pronounced "Heaps" for a reason.
And I've owned 5 of them, from a '64 to a '00. They seemed to get steadily crappier with each new model year. Wouldn't touch one newer than mid 70's now, and would also want to find one unmolested. Yeah, right. Ain't going to pay those prices for one.
