Console in a '53
I finally just did it... procrastinated long enough about the console, borrowed a table saw and made sawdust...
first pic...here's the storage box for between the buckets... top hinges toward the back and will be somewhat padded and covered in vinyl probably... like the rest of the truck.
second pic... added the lower section that runs up under dash... still some tweening to do (I'm no master carpenter)
console will contain 2 cup holders, switches for doors and windows, radio in sloped panel and maybe a charging port or two...
john

boy Jack... you guys don't miss nuthin... being left handed I take all my phone pictures backward... and usually upside down... I flipped that one but forgot to mirror it...
I'll take some measurements tomorrow... off the top of my head it was 18" deep 17" high with a 2" hinged lid and 8" wide..the floor part was 10" wide to accommodate working around the trans cover... done in 1/2" mdf
John I can't move to Australia.. I can't hardly afford to build this truck in Merica.

Sheesh, I started out reading this thread just like normal, then all of a sudden I was south of the equator and everything was backward. Now, in the blink of an eye, its all back to normal and everything's right with the world.

yea John... I'm waiting till I go to CTC this week and look for gas pedals before I tie it down... I moved my brake pedal to the left as far as possible and if I use the 'spoon' style gas pedal I think I will be ok... That was my first concern when doing the under dash box...
trying to think out switches and stuff today and looking for square hole drills or punches... Greenlee makes nice ones but they are high $$$$$ probably use drill and files.
