johnT .. not today.. i did sort thru some of the new parts i have to rebuild the 351w i got from rich.. at least that seems to be the plan for now
i worked on bullet today.. got the shifter brackets on, then more of the electrical sorted out.. i couldnt get it to start so after a few checks i figure either the coil (i tried 2) or the pickup in the dist. is bad.. but it got late so i quit for the day... jeff i would look at the dist. you had.. but i think i would be faster right now to just replace the pickup in your old one

Spent some time this afternoon looking the van over before its band trip to Tulsa next Saturday. It ran pretty good last weekend to Wright City (same reason) but I wanted to check a few things before a really long haul. I pulled the driveshaft to check the u-joints trying to chase down a intermittent vibration and found the grease seals were beginning to crack and show some age so I decided to swap them out.
Now, I've changed countless u-joints in my life but I have never popped one out that left me gagging for air like the ones I did today. They stunk worse than burnt gear lube.
Other than that, I can't find much else wrong with it other than possibly needing some fuel system cleaner run through it. It sits more than it should and has probably run more stale fuel through it than it deserves.

Evening All!
My rider mower broke immediately after I did the annual service in March. I've been push mowing all year. Well, today as I was push mowing, I hit an aluminum bat that NOBODY left in the yard. Gremlins must've been playing baseball in the back yard since I cut the grass last, because nobody in this house has even been outside, let alone touched a bat. I was MAD. FURIOUS that now my push mower is trash because of a badly bent crank. I sure hope that was the last cutting of the season.

good morning missouri, dave and batman .... i guess today i will mostly be doing a repeat of yesterday .. only with more results... ha ha ha ha
i hope all goes smooth and easy and bullet will just fire-up like a new truck.. i may even install a few more bolts to kind of hold things together just in case i get it close enough to drive around the yard a bit.
if i have time i hope to get the 351w i have on the engine stand tore down.. or at least get it apart enough to decide if i will use the engine i got from rich, the other one i have that needs to be bored and new pistons installed or maybe even use the original FI bronco engine with a couple of new rods and pistons.. i guess i wont know which one till i start the re-assembly

To continue from the Sept. thread:
Yes, some(not all) emissions codes will turn off the traction control/stabilitrac systems.
And happy halloween, everyone.

good evening missouri.... i had my job cut out for me today.. i think there were more things 1/2 installed than installed on bullet.. each time i got ready to start it something else needed attention.. finally got it close enough and started the engine (after installing another coil).. it started and ran fine for a little while. made the mistake of putting it into gear and soon found out the drive shaft was only 1/2 installed.. will button up a few more items tomorrow and try it again.. would sure be nice to drive it around the yard a little bit to scare all the spiders away.. ha ha ha ha
