Thank you
Wanted to post up a quick thank you to all of the members of this forum.
Been working on an '88 F-250 basket case.
Most of the work I have done has been because of basic diagnostics, from shadetreeing other makes, it carries over. Not familiar with Fords, usually working on import cars.
When I got a no-spark condition, I was lost. Was able to quickly find the issue, caused by the pip. Just popped in a new distributor, it's running.
On a related note, the gear that came with the autozone dizzy came with a steel gear, had to pull the old gear off. Those get quite stuck after decades of being in place.
I haven't set timing yet (you see me doing it by hand in the video), so pardon the noise/idle. Just really excited.

Truck runs great, considering it's been sitting for 5 years.
Smoked like it thought it was supposed to be rollin coal, burning off the 5 years worth of crap.
Next on the list (no particular order):
* Broke the ignition cylinder off inside the column.
* Alternator is acting dead. voltage at idle is under 12v
* front fuel pump bad, and leaking fuel from rear return. Gonna pull the bed to tackle these
* brake hoses are crusty. looks like the master cylinder is leaking
* Tags are 5 years overdue.
* Tires are rotten, and need to find a spare.
* Exhaust leak(s)

Felt time to kinda update myself, and others on the truck status.
Now, I have a new list of crap to do:
- found a 3g alternator and harness at the junkyard. looked almost new, tested good. mustang alternator was clocked right (bonus), and grabbed a harness off a random 3g truck.
- fixed main exhaust leak. the air pipe between the heads was rotten. plugged with some 5/8"-11 bolts from lowes.
- picked up some non-rotten, used tires from craigslist seller for $75. Need to get two of them mounted, and all balanced. Should be doing that later this week
- soft brake lines and master cylinder replaced
- got the ignition tumbler out and replaced
- replaced front tank and pump assembly. I jacked up the o-rings for the fuel return line going to the back tank, because I didn't want to pull the bed. FML, but I replaced the o-rings, fixing the leak.
- replaced the driver's tail light, since the old lens was gone. makes the passenger one (original?) look even more ragged than it was, in comparison.
- Truck is registered, tagged, and insured.
- new window motors, wiper motor, lock solenoids
- "new" stereo. speakers are gonzo, ordered some cheap alpines to install.
Now, I have a new list of crap to do:
- Find why I have a "tick" from the top of the motor (valves/lifters is what we believe).
- upgrade the exhaust. way too small, and leaks in spots
- rust, rust everywhere. Cab corners, floor boards, sheet metal surfaces....
- replace serpentine belt (probably 10+ years old. yolo)
- find the hum at speed. more of a rumble, on throttle. Suspect u-joints
- All the things are leaking fluid. transmission, power steering, and of course, engine. will have to suck it up, and fix them.
- find a spare wheel. have found many newer wheels, but not much older. Main requirement is a factory wheel, matching the four on the truck
- window seals, door seals
