Dumb regen question

This is an F250 PSD XLT so I have the basic display. When your in a regen, does it change the way your turbo will boost? I drive the same rural hiway to work and back which is flat for miles. Usually cruising around 60 mph with cruise on, I may see 3-4 pounds of boost. Today, same stretch of road, cruise on, i steadily ran well over 10 pounds. There was no wind. I assume I was in a regen however, with the basic display it will flash cleaning exhaust filter for about 3 seconds, so you got to just happen to look at the right time, so I really don't know. So, what do you all think??

No stupid questions.

I watched my turbo gauge after another member said when it regens his stays steady at 10 psi... I noticed that the turbo gauge would go just past 10 psi quickly during a regen, while it would go up slowly when not in one.

Well, I guess it's normal then. I don't really fully understand what is happening in the motor during a regeneration other than fuel being injected into the exhaust stroke.

Basically -- that's it. It injects fuel in the exhaust stroke and it ignites in the DPF to burn the soot into ash... Other brands have used a separate injector to do it, Ford injects it via the exhaust stroke using existing injectors.

My guess and that is all it is, is that the response of the turbo is better so that you don't notice a loss in power and so the engine has enough air to do what it needs to.

So that question makes me wonder.....

Since injection of fuel into the engine on an exhaust stroke (as it happens while in regen)
--and--
It's been proven by Ford (see Regen TSB) that some trucks experience soot build-up on the exhaust valves
--then--
What is / could-be the impact on the turbocharger since that fuel ladden exhaust has to pass through the turbo to get to the SCR / DPF etc. ???

My truck has had the PCM reflashed with the Regen TSB code and has been perfect ever since. It's my understanding that the same regen fuel injection strategy is still used, but in all eight cylinders now rather than just the left bank cylinders..

My truck makes higher boost too when in a regen. Usually 10-12psi range vs the normal 3-5 range.

Well that's good to know all is normal. I never know what to expect during a regen. This truck has been perfect except for def issues no tech can solve but I guess that's the price we pay for supposedly cleaner air.
