2010 F150 XLT 4.6 3 V
no leaks
new pads and rotors
intermittent BRAKE (red) light in dash , no other symptoms
brakes work fine, mechanic is baffled

any ideas

 

Mine does this when the parking brake isn't fully released. I have to make sure to put my foot under it and pull up. Yours might be sitting right on the line (if you don't use your parking brake often) and is tripped randomly. Just a though to check out the sensor and adjustment of the pedal.

 

I'll get a new ebrake switch, see what happens

 

May not need a new switch, could just be out of adjustment. I haven't taken the time to check mine out yet. Worth a shot before spending the $
