Quality of Platinum Leather
Looking for some advice. Currently I own a 15' Lariat crew cab FX4 with the ultimate package. Truck is White platinum tri-coat with black interior. I love the truck but the platinums have really grown on me recently and I am looking at purchasing '16 Platinum. My biggest concern right now is the quality of the leather in the platinum. The leather is noticeably softer than in my lariat but what about the durability? I have talked to several people in the recent past who own a newer King Ranch and they have nothing but negative to say about the durability of the leather concerning normal wear. Is this the same with the Platinum leather? I will not be abusing the truck, just a daily driver for commuting and the occasional tow and hopefully own for at least the next 10 years. Also curious how well the painted bumpers hold up over time concerning rock chips and paint peeling ect. Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks.

I can't really speak to the leather durability yet because I've only had my 2014 for a year (bought it used). However, my recommendation for the painted bumper is to put one of the clear protection films over it (like 3M clear mask or clear bra). Mine had it on the bumper, behind the wheels, and on the rocker panel when I bought it. If it hadn't and the paint was still in good shape, I would have done it myself. The films work great.

I have a Platinum and the leather doesn't seem any better than the 2012 Lariot Ultimate I owned previously. Mine is black leather with 38,000 miles on odometer, and leather is starting to wear on drivers seat, with color rubbing off. I'm just not impressed with it. I also own a '13 Platinum F150and the leather in that truck is significantly better than in mr F350- and I mean way better. My F150 has over 110,000 miles, and the black leather is softer- has been since day 1 and shows little wear.
I hope the new SuperDuty series has interior quality up to F150 standards.

I'm not impressed with the "leather seating surfaces" in my Lariat. As far as I know it's only leather where your body touches, sides and back are pleather. They probably get enough leather from one cow to do a dozen seat sets judging by the thickness. I'd take the cloth seating over the leather if it was available in a Lariat.
