I appreciate you telling me about the fastenals, I should have just waited till Monday and went there and bought them but I just ordered a set of bbk 3/8" bolts so they should work just fine I think.

@conanski I think that I've gotten all the air injection crap pulled out, I'm guessing the two valves here in the right of the pic are the diverter valves? I'm not sure what that is in the left of the picture but it was hooked up to all the system so I went ahead a pulled it, it was sitting next to the passenger side of the engine but it wasn't hooked up to anything.

As for the air pump you were talking about where would that be? Everything that I pulled is what was hooked together so I'm not sure how the pump would be in the mix. UNLESS... The thing in the left of the picture hooks up to the pump? If that's the case then this system hasn't been hooked up correctly since i bought the truck because that hose hasn't ever been hooked up.

Ok I think I've just figured out where the pump is, here under the alternator there's a pump with a hose fitting on it and that must be where the hose I was asking about was hooked up.

<a href="http://s1375.photobucket.com/user/tim25iallen/media/D1264C15-0BFF-49FB-85FA-9612239FE979_zpsv887pwfk.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1375.photobucket.com/albums/ag447/tim25iallen/D1264C15-0BFF-49FB-85FA-9612239FE979_zpsv887pwfk.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo D1264C15-0BFF-49FB-85FA-9612239FE979_zpsv887pwfk.jpg"/></a>

Now this canister is also hooked up to that pump, I'm guessing that I could go ahead and get rid of that also? It hooks up to the pump via a hose and then has another hose that comes off of it that just goes to atmosphere so I'm guessing that is no longer needed?

Hey 2.5itim, nice work! I recently re-did my whole exhaust with no cats, I ended up just leaving the air injecting system there but I cut the line that previously went to the cat. Is there anything else you removed besides what you showed in the pictures?

Thanks, Travis

That is the air intake filter/silencer for the air pump, there would have also been a smaller air output muffler for when the whole system is in bypass mode.

An older post, but I have a question....

The holes in the heads can be plugged with 5/8" x 1" coarse thread bolts with copper washers to seal
Looking at the pic of the removed parts:

Does the 5/8" bolt thread into the hole marked with the green arrow? Or the blue arrow? I'd venture a guess that the blue arrow is where the exhaust would exit should this stuff be removed. Is that hole threaded in the head then to accept a 5/8" bolt?

Green arrow is a smaller bolt to hold the tube in place. Blue arrow is the threaded hole the exhaust would flow out of, and yes it's coarse thread 5/8".

Edit: the smaller bolt holes do not need to be plugged. Also, I don't know the role of the larger holes (for air injection, exhaust flowing in/out, not sure, my 96' F150 doesn't have it), but they do need to be plugged.

Well, that makes things easy, now doesn't it?
