What did I do??

I replaced my Air Bag Clock Spring today. I broke off the little copper thingy on the electrical connection that goes from the clock spring to the key lock, so I spliced the old one on.

Now my horn works and the air bag light goes out like it should. I was tired so I did not take it for a drive to see is the cruise worked.

The chime now chimes even when the key is out the ignition and the doors are open, no lights on, key out and no dome on either.

The only thing I can think of is that the electrical connect to the key lock has twisted/shifted and is causing this? I will look at this tomorrow.

Just thought maybe someone had this happen to them. Thanks for any info.

Wrong truck in signature - should be a 1994 F150 Ext Cab 4X4 5.0 Auto (I will fix my signature later)

Update:

I found out what this plastic part is, it makes the chime work when you leave your keys in the ignition.

Just for those who want to do this, do not pull the key lock all the way out, you must pull it out a little then remove this plastic part then finish the pull.

So all is good, I just have to remember to take out my keys when I get out.

A lot of frustration for nothing.

And my cruise to work - I am very happy.

Mine was stuck so I just removed the wire. A hide a key under the bed rail is a good idea for when you lock your keys in.
