Worked On My '49 f1 today!

Well it was a great day to work on my Monkey Face (the '49 f1).

Started at 12:00
  1. Started out working on the drivers side window. It's cracked and broken, but we have rain scheduled for tomorrow. So I just found the broken glass that feel inside the door and taped them all together.
  2. Found at the bottom of the door was full of dust and crap. Vacuumed the bottom of the door thru the inspection panel.
  3. Removed home made door limiter strap (that didn't work). Looked for the new ones I bought some time ago, but couldn't find them. So waiting to repair/replace them.
Had to run an errand for my Mother at 3:00.

Afterwards cam back to overcast and started working again at about 4:00
  1. Started working on passenger's door removing crap from bottom of door.
  2. Cleaned and lubed window track pivot points and door latch on both doors.
  3. Vacuumed up floor.
  4. Run aluminum tape along floor seams and holes threw firewall and floor.
  5. Mount dual horns (High/Low)
  6. Then worked on dash panel. Removed the chock cable bezel (not being used). Not sure what to put here... Maybe a horn button until I find one of the OEM ones.
  7. Removed Electric fan switch (was installed where the Headlight switch was orig installed) and installed it in the hole where the dash light was orig. Looking at options of adding an LED to notify me when the Electric Fan is running.
  8. Removed headlight switch (was installed where the Starter button was orig installed) and installed it in it's orig location.
  9. Will install new starter button in orig location.
Stopped working at about 7:30 due to it was getting to dark outside.

Great Day! Anyone have extra Door Inspection Panel Screws? Or know of where to order them?

I may have a few of those screws. How many do you need? Sounds like you had a good busy day working on the old truck

How do you guys repaired the sheet metal (screw holes to tighten the screws) around where sheet metal screws go threw? I need to see what other have tried. What works best for others. I've tried flattening the metal before, also used solder and mig welder...

Thanks mike.rogers, I'm looking for 15 of the 16 that are needed, as I think I have one orig. one. I figure I'm not going to find them all at once.

I drilled all mine out and put nut-serts in the door (threaded inserts). Then I ordered new screws from McMaster-Carr supply company, you canget a domed Philips countersunk fasteners that look like the original screws. That way when or if I strip one, I can just drill it out and put in a new nut-sert(presto, new threads).
