Put SeaFoam in gas every month?

Does anyone put entire can of SeaFoam into gas tank every month? This would be 16 ozs into maybe 19 gallons (full tank). Will this help EFI of my 460?

Seafoam is a good product from what I gather, but I don't think your truck would benefit from such a tight schedule. You can also use it to clean carbon buildup and other things in the engine. Many here would only run about 1/3 of the can in the gas.

I add a full can about every 10th fill-up. I use it in all my small engines , outboard and everything fires right up with no problems.

SeaFoam was originally made for marine outboard motors, hence the name. According to Scotty Kilmer (Youtube him), modern fuel injected engines supposedly benefit more from modern fuel treatments with polyether-amine. In general, if your vehicle is tuned up & running right, you shouldn't need a lot of additives.

If anything, I'd suggest Techron additive over SeaFoam anyday. Proven science.

Thanks guys. Good points. I'll use only limited amounts and not entire can. BTW was SeaFoam around 26 years ago when my manual was printed. Maybe. Does anyone know?

I use one ounce per gal monthly in motorcycle gas tank and add small amounts to lawn equipment, but, as you say, a well tuned 460 probably doesn't need SeaFoam.

I'd be more inclined to hold wot more often under load...up a grade, wot sprints onto the highway, etc.

I agree with techron over sea foam, or just only use chevron gas. I also agree with turd that wot helps expunge carbon buildup.

Seafoam has been around since the 1930s, so yes, it was around 26 years ago.

Thanks Ray. I didn't know it has been around that long. SeaFoam Corp has a very good video which kind of pushes adding a full can every month (of course). My truck sits idle for long periods, so I wondered if regular addition of SeaFoam might help EFI.

BTW does anyone know how long synthetic motor oil has been around? My '90 manual doesn't mention using...

There's no reason to run a can of Seafoam every month. Once or twice a year is probably fine for any of those system cleaners. Unless you buy premium gas then the additives are generally good enough to keep things clean.

But, '89F2urd has the right idea. In the "old" days an occasional 90mph run down the highway for a few minutes would clear out the crud in the cylinders and valves. I still recommend it. Run some premium gas, or your Seafoam, at the same time and you'll get even better results (maybe).
