1950 Ford F-47 V8 Engine Color

I've asked around a little about this, but I thought it would be worthwhile asking on a separate thread.

Does anyone know the paint color used by Ford on the Canadian V8s in 1950.

The motors were painted a beige.

So far I've found been recommended to look at:

1. Cummins Beige
2. Packard Ivory
3. 1954 Ford Passenger Cream

As close substitutes.

In the pictures below, you can see a 1950 engine in beige, a picture of the side of my transmission cleaned up a bit, and my attempt at doing a colour comparison from paint chips off the internet.

The motor shown above is painted incorrectly from what I've found, and comparing it to my motor:

Engine & Transmission - Beige
Starter, Generator, Fan and bracket, Truck rad hose tubes, oil filter can and bracket- Gloss Block
Engine intake and fuel pump - natural aluminum.
(Thanx to Barlea on Ford Barn for this information)

Kirk, My 51 Ford F-1 was restored here in Saskatchewan 20 years ago. I asked the 74 year old restorer and he says the engine colour is correct. He owned an auto body shop. My manuals don't indicate engine colour. tienmac

Yes, that motor looks exactly correct!
I wonder what colour the rebuild shop used?

Is your truck also Sheridan Blue?

Kirk,

I don't know what color was used for the Flathead. I can check my books again. Yes, my truck is Sheridan Blue with Raven Black fenders and running boards.

Terry, Thanks! The truck is a Canadian Built F-1 and it was common to have the fenders and running boards black. The most common color was Vermillion Red with black.
