There were some old posts a long time back talking about cavitation in 6.9's. It wasn't the main topic so I have not had luck searching for the original mention... but they can and do cavitate if abused. They are not immune. Honestly the overall condition is more important than whether it is a 6.9 or a 7.3. If you are thinking of rebuilding a 6.9, do yourself a favor and make sure it is a late (bolt-in oiler) type block. The one-and-done press-in oilers are obsolete and must be carefully removed and reinstalled with loc tite. If one falls out your brand new rebuild looses oil pressure and eats the big one.

Well, it had to be done. We took the F250 out behind the barn... Justin gave me a great price on a rebuilt long block, but the timing wasn't going to work out. So if anyone wants a '94 SC ZF-5 4x4 with a one year old turbo/DP, Banks 3" to 4" exhaust, new air bags and RS 9000 shocks, gauges, Explorer seats, etc, let me know. Amazing deal, you come and grab it. PM for details. On to Ford truck number 15!

Maby in a few months. You are about 9 hours away from me, which would be an interesting weekend trip I think... Once my main truck has new headgaskets and I can haul a trailer down there.

I truly hope someone does, I really like that truck. If we had found out it would need another motor sooner, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But I don't need the headache of having a motor put in and all that when i'm 2500 miles away, winter is coming, and I would still need to break it in before towing. It's sitting at my heavy truck mechanic's shop until it finds a new home.
