Stamped numbers on top of the block

I have a 86 F150 with a 302 but it is a reman engine and I found some numbers stamped on the block by the bellhousing and was hoping someone might be able to help me decipher what they may mean.

GKB85150

I have searched the interweb and found discussion about them but nothing that actually helps decipher them. It is raining outside so i am not able to try and get the casting numbers by the starter.

those are the VIN numbers from the vehicle the block was originally installed in.

That's been my understanding but not sure how to figure out what vehicle it was. May be able to determine somewhat what year engine and so forth

You will never be able to determine the vehicle it was installed in because it's not the complete vin number, only the last half of the number (if that much of it)

Oh ok. I thought there was a little more info in it. I'll just have to get the numbers off the block. I appreciate the response.

the block's casting numbers also do not tell you what vehicle it was installed in. These are the Engineering numbers which only tell you the vehicle line the development costs for that part were assigned to. Many parts were used in multiple vehicle lines, especially engine parts. Blocks and heads especially.

The goal is to find out what year the motor is, if I could have found out what vehicle then I could have narrowed it down but my only concern really is just the year.

Then you'll need the date code. And if that translates to June/July/ August/September then that'll skew the model year. Parts made in those months could be used in two different model years.
