Pruitt66: Cab mounts may contribute to this to some degree, but typically, as the cab sags, the fender to door gap opens up at the bottom. In the pic you posted, you can see that your fender to door gap is getting wider at the bottom, but just barely, I have seen trucks with a three finger gap at the bottom
Didn't really think cab mounts would be enough to cause it guess I was just hoping that it would be that simple. I have been trying to figure this out for a few weeks now.
Pruitt66: What I said was, It may contribute to some degree, not that it was the sole cause........

I was agreeing with you that it wouldn't be the sole cause. I was just hoping that it might had been. So now I guess I'll just keep trying to figure it out.
If that's true then I need to find out was originally in the truck and go from there. But if it was factory with the FE what would cause this? Wouldn't all FE motors use the same stools?
So here is a picture of the vin F10YK844235. So as stated above it came factory with a 352. Any ideas what would cause a truck that came with a FE and currently has a FE in it to have the motor sit up to high?
Are the valve covers the stock pent roof type? If not they might stick up a bit higher in the back end. Compare 66with352's picture to what you have and see if they are shaped the same. May be another factor.
Yes, that might be part of it then. Here's a close up of my drivers side 1966 pent roof on that back edge. Looks like it leans forward much more quickly than the picture in post #8. I don't have a later valve cover here to compare to - only an earlier Thunderbird embossed cover(s) from about a 1963 FE.
Here's a link to the other picture. Judge for yourself.
Something isn't right, cab has dropped or the engine mounts or something has raised the engine. I have taller then stock covers because I use solid lifters and adjustable rockers on mine and the cable still clears..
So from what I can tell the cab hasn't dropped enough to cause this because the body line still lines up pretty close with the bed. So that leaves that I have a truck that came factory with a FE and currently has a FE but has the wrong stools somehow. Makes sense I guess considering that hack job thats been done on everything else by the PO lol.
Here is a pic of what the motor mount should look like for reference. Keep in mind, my 66 F100 is 4wd. Not sure if 2wd is the same. I'm sure someone out there can tell us if they are the same. Hope this helps
