Question Tuner Recommendations

I am new to the 6.4 family and the diesel family. I recently purchased a 2010 6.4SD with under 100k miles for next to nothing. With the extra money I was expecting to spend I have made a few small purchases including 35" tires. My next purchase will be a delete kit. I see there are many opinions on different brands and such so I wanted to get some input for my actual habits. I drive it daily to and from work (30 miles @ 80 MPH) and on the weekends tow 1 of 2 boats depending on the season. Neither are crazy heavy. I want to do a DPF and EGR delete, add an intake and a tuner. I am not tech savvy so some of the tuners scare me when talking about changing a bunch of settings. Im not looking for an unbelievable mpg gain as I know there will be a bit of gain from the regens not happening. What would y'all recommend?

Sorry it was lengthy... wanted to get all thoughts and answer any questions that may come.

I had the DPF delete done on my 08, but the EGR system is still under the hood, but shut off. I use an H&S Mini-max tuner running a tow tune with little power gains. You can get a lot of HP out of a 6.4 just by deleting and tuning, but that comes at a potential cost. I wouldn't expect much in mileage gain. But you will find new power.

You don't really need an intake, but if you really want one, go for it. The tuner with delete can make a big difference. Jeremy at No Limit Fabrication can give you options.

Is it confusing

Is the mini max hard to tune? I have seen where there seems to be a lot of adjustments and I don't want to mess up my truck in the long run

Most people don't make the adjustments themselves. Instead, they buy tunes from known good sources.

The H&S Mini-Max has an assortment of tunes on it. You can choose from the library on there as to which one it will load into your truck. Once uploaded to your truck, it will only work on your truck unless you unload the program back onto the Mini-max. It is very simple to use. Plug into the USB port and follow the directions. You can choose some different shift strategies I believe, and you can choose to shut off the pollution control stuff while it's still on the truck. You can change programs with the H&S, but it's not like the Hydra or TS chip many are familiar with the 7.3's. You have to pull the program off the computer and download the one you want from the H&S. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes to change. Can't do it on the fly or with the truck running.

I am new here but I put a Spartan tuner on my 2008. It will tune from 40HP all the way to 350 HP. I have been running the 250 tune for about 20k miles and I love it.

Spartan has a very good reputation among 6.4 owners as well! Glad you like it!
