aftermarket gauges
Im new on this page and was wondering if i could get some info pertaining to my 1992 ford f150 custom with the 4.9 inline and 5 speed manual. I purchased a set of equus gauges so i could have a more accurate list of info for my truck most importantly the oil gauge but i would mind doing temp and voltage and rpm too. I was just curious as to whther my truck has the temp sending unit controlling fuel mixtures and adjustments which would get messed up if i installed the temp sender in its place. And as for oil i mean i wouldnt mind some tips on installing the gauge! Thanks!

I believe there is a sensor used for the temp for the computer and then there is a sender used for your factory gauge. I would not mess with the sensor for the computer(removal would mess up the operation of the engine). Use the spot that the gauge sender is in. For the oil gauge I would remove the stock oil pressure switch that runs to the stock gauge and put a new sender or line to it(depending if you got a electric or mechanical gauge). If the 300 is the same as the 302 the oil pressure switch is above the oil filter.
