new guy here...2002 explorer- broken shift lever- replaced complete colum from another 2002, swaped key and switch from original colum . won't even crank now. ran fine before. checked wireing harness , has all the same color wires and number of pins...anyone been here before ????

 

Do you get the normal indications otherwise such as accessories working when the key is in the On position and the bulb test when the key is in the Run position? When in the Start position, does the instrument cluster go blank like you would expect? Do you have a multimeter so you can check for the appropriate voltages in the Start position? Have you checked all the fuses to make sure one didn't blow through the swap process?

thanks for the reply ...i will start checking .. indicator lights work,all normal it seems ...started fine before...thought there might be a special process like battery disconnect for certain period

 

shift lever has to be in part to get power thru the transmission neutral start switch to pull in the starter............ maybe the adjustment on the lever is off ???
