The ECU controls the speed limit of the vehicle. The PSOM just creates the speed info of 8000 pulses per mile for the ECU and speed control.

From playing around with quite a few speedo PSOMs, they are only good to about ~120MPH(feeding the VSS input with signal generator) before they flake out and stop processing the VSS input. Some held better speed than others I discovered too.

There is a way around the speed limiting, it involves a divide by 2 digital circuit that you can divide the 8000 pulse per mile and fool the ECU to seeing a slower speed. Other than that, the ECU will have to be reprogrammed.

Well, the article is 10 years old. However...

Until you get down into the performance sections, everything sounds like 100% Ford marketing information from 93 & up & with the exception of the computer/speedometer info is just what I've heard & read about these things since I first started following them in 93.

So other than the chip "switching on fans" & "modifying the S hose with dryer duct"

Be interested in your take on exactly what misinformation Hemmings' was perpetuating.

Just off the top of my head. Since I only skimmed thru the article

Charcoal interior in 93. Then in 94 AND 95 they went opal gray

Then there was also the power seat BS. NOPE, never a power seat in a 1st gen lighting

By stating that it has a power seat, they are probably referring to the lumbar.

That's what I was thinking also. By the way, thanks for the link to a pretty informative article (not exactly War & Peace length) & thanks to Bill K for making it work.

When you get it all working post up some pics.

I guess I was the only one who read it...

"Each seat has six-way power adjustment as well as a unique adjustment to allow for better leg support."

Say NOTHING about lumbar

Well I'll admit missing the 6-way bit. But then there is this:

In 1993, the only available interior color was Charcoal; Opal Gray in 1994 and Dark Charcoal in 1995.
Legroom measured 41.4 inches, headroom was 39.6 inches, and overall cab volume was 62 cubic feet. Standard interior equipment on a 1993 to 1995 Lightning included: supplemental restraint system, driver's side airbag (1994-1995 only), XLT trim; premium bucket seats with power lumbar support; center floor console (on 1993 and some 1994 trucks) or center folding seat (on some 1994 and all 1995 trucks); electric AM/FM stereo with cassette/digital clock and four speakers. A CD player could be ordered in 1994 and '95.
Other standard equipment included: power windows; power door locks; air conditioning; cruise control; tilt wheel; intermittent wipers and light and convenience Group B.
