AC not real cold

The AC works, but just not well enough on a really hot day. On a day in the 90s I have to put it on Max AC and even then it does not cool down for a while and the air out of the vents is not ice cold.

So, it works, but I cannot tell if there is something wrong or not. I recently put in a can of AC Pro and it did not change anything.

Can someone point me to a troubleshooting doc for AC?

look at the "frequently asked questions" ........... but the FIRST thing you need to do is measures at least the low side pressure in the system.. if you can get the high side that would also be a benefit. Record the ambient temp when you measure the pressures. ............ normally a 1 can will make a big difference, but you really need to know what the LO and HI side pressures are to know what is going on.

I assume when you move the TEMP **** on the dash , you can get full heat at one end, and just low cooling at the other ? The **** DOES seem to work for heat ?

I actually did scan the FAQ first, but nothing there seemed to relate to this issue.

If I need the high and low pressure settings I will need to borrow gauges from AZ. May be a couple days.

My truck heat and air controls are all digital, so no *****. I have not checked heat as never really thought about it being related. I think I see where you are going with this. The AC is working OK, but temperature controls or damper doors are bleeding hot air in to the cold air stream. Is this a known issue with these trucks?

If you'd read the HVAC FAQs, you'd know the answer....

the TEMP control is an electric motor operated damper.. You can set it at any VARIABLE position. It is possible for the motor to fail, or damper / drive gear to fail and get "stuck" in some position other than 100% COLD.... if you cant get 100% HOT, that is one test.

Look. So I did not read you sig. I normally ignore them like advertising, sorry. I did read the forum FAQ and saw nothing on this issue.

While I appreciate help and advice, attitude, not so much.
