99 to 01 V10 Swap Questions

Been going through the archives on the forum and have come on conflicting information regarding the PCM.

Do I need to update the PCM or will the new engine work with original computer? I live in California, will I have any smog issues?

I have 5-star tunes. I plan on getting updated tunes for the new engine should I see if Mike can do a "California" tune for smog?

I read that the heater hoses are different? Any other things I should be aware of? I'm picking up the engine Friday. It came out of a truck with 134K on it but they say it is a factory replacement so it may have less mileage on it. Not sure how they can tell.

Thanks all

The one thing that you might come across is the EGR - it might be missing from the 2001. The PCM would probably work with the newer engine, but if it already has EGR, you might have to add it to the new engine.

Yes the 2001 engine also has EGR so I'm good there.

I think you need to update pcm since you are going from no PI head v10 to PI head v10. Unless the tune would compensate for that change
