Royal Purple

Looking for any feedback on Royal Purple 15w40 Diesel oil. Thinking of using it for the first time in my 2005 6.0L, but not sure if its worth the extra $$$. Side note- I live in Southwest Florida and deal with pretty excessive heat year round.

Any opinions and info would be appreciated. Thanks

Lots of different oils folks here use, only a few do oil analysis -- you might want to go to a site called bobistheoilguy and look in their HDEO oil forum and search on royal purple look for folks that have run it in a 6.0 and have UOAs on the oil.

I've not heard anything bad or good on it, but not sure it gives you anything for the $s over many other oils available...

If you start to notice rough running at first start of the day and it smooths out after it warms up... do not hesitate to switch to right guard..... I mean full synthetic 5w-40. It's better at fighting stiction.

I'm running 5w40 Schaeffers in mine, but was advised by a rep that I can run Schaeffers 15w40 full syn up to 7500 miles, so I'll be running that next oil change.

Worked wonders for my stiction, engine runs nice and smooth hot or cold.

I've toyed with running Schaeffers too, it's a true synthetic but not sure I can justify the price difference.

Are you going to check UOA, like after you get past 5 or 6K?

I couldn't either but after I saw how well it cleaned the engine and how well my engine performed compared to Delo 5w40, Mobil 1 5w40, Delo isosyn 15w40, and Rotella T6 (absolute garbage, both my trucks hate Rotella oil), I could justify the $150 (oil and filter).
