think the clutch just took a crap

All week the truck was acting like the clutch was slight depressed when first taking off and then today i was driving and the underside of truck started smoking like crazy and slowly lost all the gears could put it in any gear and nothing just was acting like it was being revved. does this mean clutch is bad?

You might try telling the readers about your truck such as year, engine, mileage, etc.

So to be clear, you were putting it in gear and it wasn't transmitting power? Or you physically couldn't push the stick into gear?

that is a long life if original.

As Chuck's First Ford said, if original clutch, pressure plate & throw out bearing are in it - that's a long service life, especially for a truck that gets used as a truck. I also own a 2002 PT Cruiser with 273,000 on the original clutch & pressure plate set up BUT it's my commute car - almost all freeway driving and I NEVER down shift to SLOW the car down. I would rather replace brake pads than a clutch. I also RARELY use the clutch when up shifting. Again - as Chuck's First Ford said when you use the clutch a little friction material is consumed every time you use it. The less you have to use the clutch the longer it will last. Granted I live in the valley and there aren't any hills anywhere around. My steepest grade is going up my driveway - a whopping 4" from street to sidewalk level.
