Corrugated hose cover causing damage to intercooler tube.

More of a PSA. I've had this truck for 6 years now and noticed these corrugated lines sitting on the tube while doing my oil change. I expected them to be melted a little so I figured I'd check on them and it turned out to be the exact opposite I'm glad I noticed this I'm not sure how much longer before it would of made a hole.
The image doesn't do the depth justice.

Yup, that's a very common problem.

Wow. Its hard to believe that PLASTIC can do that much damage to metal tubes, without long since turning to dust themselves. What is that plastic made out of to be so abrasion resistant?

Yup. I changed the P side charge tube to a steel one to remedy this.

Dang way worse than mine. Same spots, but worse.

Also check driver side where PS pump fitting can contact IC pipe. Often pokes a hole there.

On my phone so I can't see everyone's signature, but I think only 99's came with aluminum CAC tubes. I know my E99 had the same wear marks from the corrugated wire loom but my 2000 has steel tubes and no wear marks.

Just ziptie it down yo it or away from it. D/s, I installed a sticky pack piece of foam where the p/s pump bolt rubs/hits the pipe, too

All of our trucks from 99 through 02 have aluminum CAC tubes.

I have that same problem with my IC tubes.

So is it for certain that if you order new IC pipes for our trucks from Ford that they will be steel instead of aluminum?

Thanks,
Drake
