fan clutch. left or right hand thread

I have a 1987 F250 with a N/A 6.9. The water pump is wobbling like it's about to throw the whole mess. Is the fan clutch a left or right hand thread? I think it's left hand but want to make sure.

Should be left hand on the 6.9/7.3 with V-belt system.

ok, yes I have the vbelt system. the smaller bolts are regular right hand bolts that hold the clutch to the pully, correct. Maybe i better back up and ask how do I get the clutch off the water pump. I have the big wrench set for removing the left hand clutch nut but do I also remove the 9/16 bolts from the clutch to the pulley?

With the V belt system you need to rotate the big hex nut towards the driver's side to remove. The holding tool (really big wrench) engages the bolt heads to keep the water pump from moving.
The pulley and bolts stay in place until the fan is removed, then pull the bolts and the pulley will come off the water pump.

Sounds like you got it figured out. But if you haven't yet:

A tip I figured out was to loosen those 4 smaller bolts about two turns each. At least with the kit from Oriellly's, the big wrench that goes over them can't get a good purchase with them snug to the clutch. Made a WORLD of difference the last time I did mine.
And don't forget to either torque the fan nut real good or use some blue lock-tite!
