Unsuspecting friends? Yes. Doubting acquaintances that don't believe the performance claims, absolutely. Did I take my parents out and had my 62 year old mother threaten to spank my 31 year old butt? Oh yeah.
Running around 3200rpm, I bet the Ex was screaming!! How are you doing on shaking the money tree?

Mine had similar vibration at about the 80MPH mark. Ended up being the U-joints even though they looked / felt fine.

I'd say u joints as well.

As for the speed, I thought everyone tried to see how fast their vehicles could go.....

I only like to do that on vehicles that I don't pay the maintenance on.

I am positive there is a better, grammatical way to state that last sentence, but you get the drift...

You know, the sad part is the X was supposed to be a slightly modernized family rig and Chevelle hauler. Then things took a tangent, I found myself with all-expenses-paid-for stage 3 hybrid injectors, and then the snowball effect came into play. Chevelle blew its third SBC nearly two years ago, and now the daily driver is faster Also far more expensive

Having said that, if I could throw a GearVenders OD on the Excursion and get some 4.30's while keeping the 35's, I'd have one hell of a quick rig that could still get good mileage on the freeway

On Topic:

Taking it in to my friend's shop tomorrow to check over all the u-joints and such, as well as replace the broken strap bolt up front. Our house has a ridiculously steep driveway and no gutters. As such, my driveway currently looks like white water rapids during a spring thaw and I am NOT working under the truck in that.

Nope,
The gear vendors unit will shorten the driveline and increase the angle so it will still hate those speeds.

That's what my dad always told me growing up... "Son, I say, I say Son!!! "Pick a speed you can afford".

But I think his was always talking about my speeding tickets.....

Those tickets were not my fault... It was the cars fault. It didn't know how to go 55MPH, big block Monte Carlo....

Damn I forgot about that, I'd have a front driveshaft longer than the rear... Assuming it mounts between the trans and t-case that is, haven't done one on a 4wd before.

Wonder if RCV would make me a fancy driveshaft like their axle shafts I've seen...

I still do.

I just learned a looooooooooooong time ago not to "share" a lot of those actions because it seemed like an invitation for the haters to attack me regarding my supposed reckless endangerment of others, regardless of the conditions and severe lack of those "others" who weren't on the road when I was "testing" things.

I don't know if RCV would make you one but I have seen them built and have run CV joints at max angle in race cars and while they certainly run smooth they don't last long when run at steep angles continuous. . ( we replaced them every race ) The problem with running them at steep angles is the cage in the cv tends to break so we build custom 300m cages ...... Back to speed cost

Jeep JK's use a cv style joint in drive shaft and the first thing that gets changed after lifting them is getting rid of the Cv joint. LOL

Well I guess I'll stick to fast sprints and keep it under 130 then. It starts running out of steam around 120 anyhow...
