Ok... one thing you said caught my attention... the plastic valve covers...
When i dropped the pan one of the plastic caps from the solenoids was in the drain pan... i pushed it back on as it was not the solenoid that the code was trying to replace. Im not sure if this is what your talking about or even if the solenoid will or would work properly without that plastic end cap. Im wondering now as it could have blown off under pressure and be back in the bottom of the pan.
As to my scanner.. im just using "torque" .. with a orb2 that bluetooths to the torqu app on my phone. It does read and clears the codes. Im sure its not the best out there but it does seem to work just for pulling codes.

That cap is a dummy sensor plug. I want you to check this link below out. I think we are close.

When the solenoid is commanded on a ground is provided to the solenoid. The solenoid has +12 volts any time the key is on. As the armature moves there is an inductive effect. This causes a very recognizable spike and dip in the current to the solenoid. The computer has a chip and software that looks for this spike and dip. If they are present, the armature has moved. If not, then it didn't move and a code is set for a stuck solenoid.

So the plastic cap on the end of the solenoid can be off as I see no mention of that concern.
Ive read about 300 post in the last 48 hours... I cant believe that the tranns is shot as it drives in tow haul mode just fine from a 0-45mph.. i dont dare go faster as im not educated in all this. From what ive been reading it could be:
1. bad gound
2. bad wiring harness somewhere.. external or the internal harness
3. bad solenoid ( i replaced )
I found the internal tranns harness for sale. Im looking for the harness that goes to the outside of the trans.
I dont want to get rid of this truck for the new dpf garbarg. I own a 2008 Peterbilt 335 and thats another thread where they can take the dpf on theses trucks.. it cost 5k just to delete the egr and drill out the dpf with reprogramming the ecm. My older F800's, a 1992 and 1994 still run like a top today. Venting..
I guess this truck is going to the dealer tomorrow... If they tell me I need a new trans from a solenoid stuck code.. im going to tow it back to my house.

Features in this unit:
- SunCoast custom calibrated new front pump assembly
- SunCoast custom calibrated valve body assembly
- SunCoast custom modified seperator plate
- SunCoast custom re-designed center support
- SunCoast custom OD clutch pack containing 5 frictions and 4 Kolene steels
- SunCoast custom intermediate clutch pack containing 5 frictions and 5 steels
- SunCoast custom forward clutch pack containing 5 double sided friction and 5 Kolene steels
Well.. dealer said he would have to tear apart transmission as he stated was a clutch pack. I figured since im towing 8k everyday all day in town I will just get a new one. With only 130k miles on the truck I didnt want to spent money on a stock trans so I ordered a Suncoast Transmission for the tune of almost 7k with a 2k core charge... That does include a up charge for the billet imput shaft and tc. Comes with a 3 year unlimited mile warranty and can handle up to 600hp.
Here is the trans:
- SunCoast custom direct clutch power pack containing 6 double sided frictions and 6 Kolene steels
- New Torrington thrust bearings
- New thrust washers
- New bushings
- Billet low/reverse hub
- New solenoids
- SunCoast case lug blow-out prevention
