Locking differential??

Should I get the locking differential? Is it foolish to ask when I am in this deep on options.

I don't off road, per se.. but we have a fair amount of ice etc?

The locking diff is really useful when you have one tire in the air or on otherwise low traction surface and the other tire has good traction. Locking the diff on ice just causes both tires to lose traction all together and swing the back end around.

In my book, having the e-locker is a smart move. People who "don't off-road" get stuck every day... some twice a day. lol

Better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it sort of thing.

a factory limited slip diff might as well be an open diff in most limited traction situations anyways so why not get the locker and at least be able to guarantee both wheels will spin.

At the price of the truck what is a few hundred more. I don't think I will "need" it, but because I am building my own truck, I to thought, for the price may as well have it; just in case I am in a tight spot that calls for it.

On icy roads, I'd prefer a limited slip differential to a true locker. but in snow, mud, wet grass or boat ramps, I'd prefer a true locker.

The traction control works great on ice too. All the trucks have that don't they?

I've only had to use the 4X4 on my 2015 5 times since owning it. It only takes once or twice in the wrong condition and it's paid for it self. JMHO.

How does a 4x4 work with a limited slip on a F450? F450 doesn't have a e locking differential offered.
