Solved B2 2.9l Idle Issue

I have benefited from advice and experiences from many fine folks on FTE. I have posted issues and folks have taken time to respond. So, I just wanted to share and issue and resolution I had with my daughters 1988 B2 this past week.

The engine would start, but not idle. I could govern it with the throtle though. The IAC and TPS tested good, so I had a friend disconnect the vacuum line leading to the MAP sensor while I had it running. Bingo! It began to idle on its own (roughly, of course). New MAP installed and we're back in business. Hope this helps someone else.

Now, the saying goes...'If it's not one thing, it's another'. In my case, it's usually both! So, now what was a small oil leak has turned into a steady spray under load. Never a dull moment.

Update....I crawled underneath to attempt to track down the spice of the oil leak. As I checked the oil filter to see if it was loose, I noticed that the filter had a dent in it that I believed could be the culprit. I had a friend start the engine and from below, I could see a steady stream of oil from the side of the filter! A new filter and a couple of quarts of oil and we're back in business.
