You can remove the compressor housing and take a look at the back of the plate for any evidence of contact.

I don't think the noise is coming from the turbo.

When wheels rub, noise is normally not high pitch, and it would not be consistent. Also, power loss would be felt.

Push the compressor wheel all the way to one side while rotate it. Also, push and pull on the compressor wheel. If you don't hear anything funny, it's probably not the turbo.

High pitch squeal

I had a issue when accelerating to get on the interstate. I checked all the usual under the hood. A few days later I determined my brake caliper was froze up and the squeal was metal to metal on drivers side front.

Could it be a converter TQ?
Rose88racing,

good pics, there is definitely some carnage on the compressor housing but the wheel doesn't show any damage in the pics. Maybe the scars were done from the previous owner or something?

Ok I took turbo off and took it to a diesel guy who builds them and he checked it and said turbo was fine.

I have a blue intake boot that has a rubbed spot in it from the powerstroke cover, could it possibly be coming from there? Noticed some oil around cut in hose

Yeah but mine makes this noise sitting in park at 23-2500 rpm

That would also do it! Either way it need to be repaired. I have a feeling you have found your issue though!

Riff Raff diesel makes some excellent CAC boots. If you change them all I would get new clamps and the plenum reinforce by rings from there too!

I was trying to help the OP and was aware you are trying to resolve a squeal issue as well. I wish I had something to offer on a parked vehicle, but I come up empty on that one. What I have found there will be someone come along with the answer you are looking for.
Good luck.

A cut/tear in an intake boot will make it squeal, as well as loose a little boost!

This is the same boot that blew off pulling a hill with a load... Sounded like a shotgun when it happened.

Is it possible that that rubbed spot may be opening up a little under high RPMs and leaking? Going to Ford to get boots gotta have truck back on

road Monday. I may order the other kits and do them all later.

While you are searching for the answer to your squeal, check your aluminum intercooler tubes. There are a couple of wiring Harnes that lay on the tubes. The Harnes WILL ware a hole thru the tubes.
