rearend swap question

An 88 Mazda is an entirely different truck from your Ranger. Mazda trucks 1994 and newer are the same thing as Rangers, 1993 and older are completely different from Rangers. It'd be like trying to swap a Chevy axle into it.
As far as which axles will fit, basically any Ranger from 1990 or newer (or Mazda 1994 or newer). 2010 and newer Rangers have rear disc brakes though, and I don't know if they can be converted to your stock drum setup, so I'd look for Rangers between 1990 and 2009. Do you currently have the 7.5 axle or the 8.8? If you have the 7.5, you can upgrade to an 8.8, or get another 7.5.
Which gear ratio do you currently have? Do you have a limited slip? If you were thinking about changing the gear ratio or upgrading to a limited slip, now's the time. Find an axle that has what you want.

83up Ranger & Bronco II rearends will swap into 93up Ranger but the 83-88 are 2" narrower. I put a 87 Bronco II LS rearend into my Son's 93 and it gave him some tire clearance. The first rearend swap I did on my 94 was an 8.8 LS from a 96 Explorer, dropped the rearend 4", gave me 4 wheel discs, it was like 3" wider, and I ran 275/60's on 15x8 Jeep Canyon wheels.
