Differential fluids

Just wanted to see if you all can confirm something for me.

Rear Diff, I have a 4.10 LS (C5 Code). Using Mobile 1 LS 75w-140 oil. Take 3.5 quarts?

That sounds about right for my 96. Fill it up till the overflow port says "enough!"

It's an open geaset, just like I had prior to a Detroit Tru-Trak.

On fill. I agree with Airstreamer, fill it 'till it comes out the level hole. I fill mine from a 5 gallon pail with a handpump.

And now I have another issue, the bolt for the fill on the front of the axle is totally stripped, after two hours we cannot get it out.

What options do i have?

Thanks for the ID....cool site.

I'm told it is a lost cause when asked if he used heat. Assuming it is busted, any ideas?

Through the vent? Yes i think we could do that, I would just need to fill based on recommended capacity. Would you think 3.25 or 3.5 quarts to add?
