Help finding original carburetor and oil bath parts 55 C600 COE Y block
HI All "Ethyl" the tool truck is almost ready to begin making rounds to see my customers again and offer them sales of tools. I'm putting the interior back into the showroom display area presently as the final step to getting up and running..Actually that's true only for tool sales ability. I still need to fix my open to everything carburetor situation. The open throat of my 2 barrel carburetor is the problem. I can't see how this fine carburetor presently on this 256 Y block would allow it to connect up to the Oil bath fixture just mounted there already but any connection snorkel or pipe is missing. Also missing is what should sit over the carburetor throat to tie into the pipe that would join the oil bath fixture toto the carburetor throat. Actually I would love it if I could have pictures of what all this actually looks like. Ideally separate pictures of the correct original carburetor, another picture of the connecting pipe and a separate photo of what sits on top of the carburetor throat would be so valuable. It's a shame I probably have a carburetor on this engine currently that is incompatible with allowing the original style oil bath from being used when I finally get the pieces currently missing. .8588299912 reaches me

We would certainly like to see pictures of Ethyl as she stands and more important, pictures of the carb to which you're trying to add an air cleaner. A tea pot carburetor, if that is what you have, may prove difficult to adapt to an air cleaner without some fabrication. There have been a few folks on here who have customized this area of their individual trucks and may have what you need. Pictures?

A word of caution on the air cleaner. While they all will fit the firewall mounting bracket with the V-clamp, make sure the inner opening of the air cleaner is over 2" (don't remember the exact dimension) because the six cylinder engines used a smaller opening. Same outside dimensions though. I was able to source some 2-5/8" hose for connectors and used 2-1/2" exhaust pipe sections. It was next to impossible finding the OEM flex hose in the correct size, which is similar to defroster vent hose. If you have the parts book that would be a great help in finding the correct air cleaner.

Pictures of Ethyl "The Tool Truck" & her present Carburetor
Guys you have as usual requested pictures....so here you go...I didnt have a picture of the oil bath unit itself yet...dont know why there isnt one but it is hanging there were Henry Ford< guys put it when they built this truck...just missing all the pipe and tube or whatever plus what is supposed to sit over the Carburetor....not sure if this carburetor on Ethyl is correct for the oil bath...Carburetor on her now works great... would rather build some kind of hard pipe thing with hoses on ends or something rather than use a duct type of hose....something similar to the upper radiator hose set up...hose to pipe to hose....ideas??? notice the ridge/flange on the present carburetor...how about an exhaust pipe cut in half after it was taken to a muffler machine that stretched a bulge in that pipe to match the flange and then use a clamp to keep the two halves together???? not much room for a pipe to fit the other extrusions just under that carburetor flange thing.... is there a cover like I see in the parts break down to fit over this thing on this carburetor....any pictures you guys may have of what the correct carburetor is would be great...pictures of the actual cover piece...all pieces photo's....im greedy....

So it looks to me like you have a std 94 or 97 carburetor, not the tea pot. In this case, how much clearance between the hood, firewall do you have to work with? My SWAG is you will need to fabricate an adapter to the existing carb and route it to an air cleaner mounted elsewhere as shown in the parts layout. Pt #9520 will do you no good without the tea pot carb.
Extremely nice looking truck, BTW

Will you sell that 9520 part to me?
Hi there. If I had that 9520 part that sits over the carburetor I would be that much closer to setting everything up....I can send you a prepaid FEDEX label that you would attach to the box you can put that part into...I would be happy to pay your price for this part....These final things to getting me back in front of my customers are challenging. Yesterday August the 21st was a year since my previous tool truck(regular everyday tool truck step van) with my entire inventory was stolen.....I really am amazed it took me an entire year to build and do everything to get back in business....and truly I probably have a few more weeks before I shore up loose ends like this air cleaner. Putting/redoing the tool store display area in the box is also proving to be somewhat of a challenge but I am going at it one thing at a time to accomplish my goal...please phone me so we can make arrangements...858-829-9912
