1996 E350 Econoline: How do you access the Power Distribution Box?
HI !
I have a C class motorhome mounted on a Econoline E350 with a gas 7.5L EFI V8 (CID 460 - whatever that means!)
I am having some electrical problems with running lights and reverse lights and blinkers, brake lights and so I have been advised to start with checking the fuses in the Power Distribution Box. Ok, but the box is placed deep into the engine compartment, under the transmission fluid reservoir and the brake reservoir and all the associated plumbing. see picture below.
I can not believe that the professionals disassemble all this just to inspect a fuse!
Question: How do I get to the Power Distribution Box without disassembling everything?
Many Thanks !

Welcome to the world of broken fingers and dentist mirrors. My theory is, that there have been some gynecologists amongst the design engineers for the vans.
On my LPG converted '98, I have to take out half the LPG system to access the power distribution box and have long zip tie zipped to the engine oil dipstick to pull it out to check the oil. No place for fingers down there in my van.
For your light problem, I would check the light switch first and see if there's any power coming into it. If yes, the switch is shot. If no, go from there and work your way to the inside fuse box below the drivers side knee panel.
Having an Ford EVTM for your modelyear van would be very helpful. You can finde these relatively cheap on eBay etc. Chiltons or Haynes manuals are helpful for changing wheels, but that's it.

Are you only having this problem at the rear of the vehicle only or at the front as well? If it's only the rear then you should first find where the main harness connects to the taillight sub harness and go from there. Could be a bad connection at that plug. If it's a problem with the front as well then it's a bit more difficult. Check and make sure you have power to the proper fuses in the panel first, if you do then Your gonna have to follow the circuit from the fuse panel to the main harness and out from there.
