cb radio's Wilson 1000 mag mount?

What have you guys figured out with cb antenna's? I have used my Wilson 1000 for years on road trips with family. The mag mount does not work on my new truck.

Thoughts??

I have suggested previously a metallic disc with the adhesive of your choice. Then place antenna on the disk. Of course make sure the adhesive doesn't damage the paint. Just a thought.

Mag mounts suck. Drill a hole, or consider a stake-hole mount in the bed.

I've asked this before and there really aren't any good solutions unless you want to drill or use a stake mount. I have a canopy, so drilling is really my only option.

I've been meaning to look under the plastic cover (where the windshield wipers tuck away), opposite the radio antenna (on the drivers side) to see of there's a good mounting point there. Cutting a hole for an antenna mount through the plastic would be easily enough if there's a solid place to mount the base.

If you have a rack, you might also fasten a bracket or something to that.

Looks like it would bolt down under the hood and stick out above the fender. It's certainly an option.

I mounted my 102 inch steel whip on my tool box. My cb peaks at about 60 watts output. I talk wherever I want for the most part. No holes in truck and no mag mount to scratch up the paint or fall off when you hit a low tree limb.

How about a 900mhz glass mount antenna on your rear window? That looks like a good option! Get a good one for $45.

Midland and Wilson both make glass mount CB antennas. You can look at them on Amazon. Read the reviews carefully, performance is generally poor.

I've used the fender bracket many times. They work OK and allow you to mount an NMO style antenna without drilling external holes. If you go this route, make sure that your ground is very good. I mounted the brackets with 3 sheet metal screws and would use star lock washers to dig into the bracket and body for a good RF ground. It will help you achieve an acceptable SWR.

Google "NMO CB antenna" to see what your choices are for thh NMO style mount, you'll have a good selection to choose from.

Some vehicles a glass mount will not work because of the coatings in the glass.

Please tell me you're joking? A 900MHz antenna isn't going to work very well at 27MHz.

Sure it will use an antenna tuner on it and treat it as a dummy load for an ht. Lol

It'd work great for deicing the windshield, especially if a linear amp was used.

For my cell phone booster I used a washer and double sided tape. No problems so far..
