What side of Houston? I'm down in League City. There's FTE members all over the place, and Houston Diesels is a biiiig local group on Facebook. Course we don't exactly have a plethora of spark plug members
Don't rush into one just to get one man, wait. The 5.4 is a joke in these, at least spring for a V10. There are gems and diamonds out there. Justin and Megan just picked up a local 7.3 XLT 4x4 for $8500.
Keep the faith and keep the search, they turn up if you dig hard enough.

The v8 and the v10 put out the same hp and power
But the v10s are harder to work on cuz the motor is more deeper in and around under the firewall
But I stay in Pasadena

You won't be able to receive anything til I think 10 posts so inbox is pointless at the moment. We can keep the banter going however til you reach the required post count.
The V10 will dust the 5.4 pretty much everywhere, there's several members here who have had both and much prefer the 6.8. Especially with some tunes and exhaust, they work better. @Apocalypse is one of the members in question.

My wife has a 5.4(look at Sig), the engine itself is reliable as can be but performance ehhhh not so much, I'm swapping a diff with 4.30 I'll report.back and give my impression after the swap. I've towed our TT weighing nearly 8500lbs, with OD off I could maintain 65-70 @ 2500-2700 rpm with no problem, got 9mpg on mostly hilly terrain managed hills alright (could barely maintain 10 mph below posted limits mostly 3-8% grades 15 mpg highway empty 12 combined also empty all with 3.73 all hand calculated. I can only imagine what the 4.30 going in are going to do when towing.
Don't let these guys scare you away from a 5.4 powered X, yes they might be a bit under powered but serve well, the v10 is a nice bad mama jama, so is 4x4.

Looks like an active chapter, gotta be lots of Ex's running around the lone star state.

Best thing about Texas Excursions is that they are so clean, no nasty rust to deal with. Found mine on eBay through a seller that specializes in trucks and SUVs. It's a 4x2 V10 and we've been very happy with it for three years now. We don't drive very far most of the time, so getting a V10 made more sense than getting a diesel. The biggest thing for us was 2WD and second row captains chairs... took several years of searching before the right one came along.
