1965 F-100 gauge wiring

Hi folks,

I recently purchased a round speedometer cluster with water temp and fuel gauges. It also has the optional oil pressure and amp gauges. I am wiring up the gauges and am having trouble determining which stud (on each instrument) to attach the sending unit wire. They do not seem to be labeled. Attached is a picture (with the amp meter removed an a volt meter installed temporarily.) I'm good with the volt meter, its just the OEM gauges that are causing me to scratch my head...

Believe issue of to what extent the original dash harness was altered to accommodate the after market cluster is the question. The 2 sockets openings on both sides of the speedo gear are for the idiot alt and oil lights, the remainder are for the instrument lights. Not sure if the instrument, and/or, idiot light sockets are available; if so, imagine a member will chime in and provide a source. I may have a few used instrument light sockets that are in fair condition you can have. Finally, if having problems with the installation suggest return the item.

Pic out of a 65 Ford wiring manual.

Thanks Dave, that is very helpful. I'm still not sure which stud on the gauges are for the black/green stripe CVU wire and which are for the sending units, but I'm guessing the sending unit wire for the oil pressure gauge (white-red) is on the outside stud of the oil pressure gauge, the temperature gauge sending unit wire (red-white) is on the lower, outside stud of the temperature gauge, and the fuel gauge sending unit wire (orange) is on the lower outside stud of the fuel gauge also.

This seems to be a perfect fit for the turn signals, high beam, and instrument lights. They installed easily and fit snugly.

Appears one must copy the images ASAP because they to not remain images for long: Again out of the 65 Wiring Manual. Appears directional, turnsignal, and instrument lights use the same socket. The original are a 6 prong plug. Same with outer sockets. The oil and alt idiot lights are different.

Wow, U's got one darn nice looking truck.

Interesting, I have the same instrument panel and cluster in the standard cab 65, I like it but somewhat partial. The big question is whether the speedo, and gauges work; if not, suggest contact seller, may be able to assist?

Miracle, not sure how U were able to locate replacement sockets, particularly for the idiot lights, once was a time I looked for them, talk about hard to find. Also, previous pic's appeared replaced the Constant Voltage Unit, oscillates volts from 0-10 volts with a 6 volt reducer?

Finally, appears U replaced the 'alt' gauge; if so, with what?

Trying to be non-partial, I like it over the aftermarket; what is most important is whether U like it!!

Idiot lights still looking. Alt gauge is out to mustang guy for conversion to volt meter ($35) Gauges don't work yet, but buddy with a bunch of letters after his name is on it.
