Flywheel bolts coming loose

What would cause my flywheel bolts to come loose on my 300. This is the second time, I torqued it to specs and used loctite last time. The flywheel was old but in good shape so I reused it. Any suggestions.

Did you use red ( high strength ) loctite or blue ( medium strength ) ? On flywheel bolts you should use red loctite.

I think I used the blue loctite. Is this common with the 300?

Isn't red loctite permanent permanent? I would think that blue would be enough.

Bolts can come loose with blue loctite. I've seen it happen more then once. I always use red Loctite on flywheel bolts. I do this on all engines. I also torque down the bolts in a criss cross pattern. And then go all the way around and recheck them again.

No red Loctite is high strength. Sometimes it requires heat to remove the bolts but not always. Blue loctite is fine for non critical items like starter bolts. But stuff like flywheel bolts really needs red Loctite.

I'll get some red loctite. FTF, I haven't pulled the trans yet, I will let you know what it looks like. I was just curious if anyone else had this problem. I'm going to look it over but most likely just replace it. While I'm at it I'm most likely replacing the clutch and u-joints.

Finally pulled the clutch and flywheel off. I did not see any fretting, the only thing I can think of is that I didn't get all the oil off the threads before I put the loctite on.

Fretting is a type of damage to metal when it rubs or corrodes.
