Update:

I have been pretty busy lately but i bought the Flamethrower coil for the Petronix Ignitor 1 i have. Wired to coil to have a full 12v with no resistor.

Car runs now, but it dies quickly, engine sounds pretty rough. I noticed that the only way it will stay running is by me having my foot on the gas, usually floored. I manually opened the choke all the way because thats the only way it will run. But overall this is good news.

Makes an odd noise at times and will suddenly die even with it floored. I am going to replace the carb gaskets with some higher quality Fel Pro gaskets. I doubt this is the issue but i am going to do it to eliminate any possible vacuum leaks.

It looks like everything works fine it just needs to be tuned. What do you guys run for starting settings for the idle screw, speed screw, fast idle etc? I know i set the choke according to spec, even though i have it fully opened.

Are you able to run the engine long enough to check manifold vacuum? It sounds almost like you have a bad leak; carburetor gasket is a possible source, but more likely something bigger.

Yeah i could probably check it real quick. It surprises me that it has a large vacuum leak if it does.. i just replace the intake manifold gasket, carb base plate gasket and its surfaced look fine. There are no real vacuum hoses one for the dizzy advance, PCV and one for the trans.

Maybe somehow i messed up the intake manifold gasket lol, either way i will give it a look.

How about the power brake booster? I've seen 2 cases where the gasket for the vacuum fitting were cut through by the metal body, and they were near impossible to find until I wiggled the line.

No power brake booster unfortunately.

Going to take a look at the carb and intake manifold gaskets here in a moment.

You should start with the basics. Is the Ignitor gapped at .030"? Make sure it's not maybe hitting the magnet deal on the distributor cam with a full revolution of the shaft. Sometimes they aren't perfectly round, shaft wobble etc. Also check for proper clearance with vacuum advance arm deployed.

Now don't misunderstand I'm not beating up on you, but you said earlier when asked that "spark looked good", but, a week later you now have replaced the ignition coil.

Does the spark look better now, or have you checked i.e. I doubt replacing the coil made any difference as such.

Clearence is good for the Pertronix.

I bought a new coil because the resistance specs with the Flamethrower works the best with the Ignitor. The other coil was within specs, but $50 isnt a huge deal.

The major change was changing the voltage to the coil from 6v to 12v.

I have the new gasket installed for carb and intake manifold, im just letting it cure properly
