Fastenal does it again!
Just today my cab arrived after going from Arizona to Maine on a Fastenal truck. It's in nice solid shape and they took great care of it along the way.
For those of you who missed my earlier good experience this summer with them, here is a link to the thread:

Anyway, this shipment on a pallet went just as easy and smooth as the last one. I can't say enough good things about how their 3rd-party logistics is done. And the price? 500-pound pallet from Arizona to Maine for $200.
The cab had some goodies packed inside, which is why is was 500 pounds.
The transit time was 14 days.
So the first shipment was not a fluke, they really do this freight hauling very well.
Tom.
p.s. - as an added bonus....the gal running the local store where I picked up the cab was pretty, friendly, did the paperwork and payment transaction fast and operated the forktruck like a pro.

Ditto my experiences. I've shipped and received sets of wheels, and sent Gary Sisson the transmission for his woodie. But I recently tried unsuccessfully to use them to ship myself a set of wheels from Toronto. Learned they ship supplies to their Canadian stores but don't do return 3rd party shipments across the border because of Customs issues. So I'll be driving to Toronto. Stu

Cause I'd understand that. I dunno, maybe they like old Fords or have sympathy for the fact that all our old metal in Maine is rusted beyond recognition and we need to shift some parts from the desert regions. I do recall seeing a list of items not accepted for transport on their website and it was more about transmissions, engines, that sort of thing. And I did specify on my quote requests that the parts were dry containing no fluids.

I've bought new bees in the spring but they aren't doing so well since we have had a heck of a drought this summer. We need rain soon or the fall flowers won't stand a chance - that is my remaining hope of getting any honey this year.
I'll tell you what though...having a bunch of bee hives all around the yard keeps anyone who doesn't know me from walking through. Better than a security system....

Huh. This is the first time around here in Ioway in a while the lawn hasn't gone dormant in the summer. Still some summer left though. Humidity has been killer though too. In a way a dormant lawn is better, don't have to mow the grass all the time and it will still green up in the fall. We've had plenty of rain this year, 'course flooding in southern states.

I don't remember exactly what piece I wanted to ship but it had to be either old Ford truck or '37 Buick, the only stuff I sell. As soon as I told Fastenal it was a piece of sheet metal they told me they wouldn't handle it. They said they didn't want the responsibility of having it getting dented during transport.
