Running light issue fuse 17 keeps blowing
Hi, I am new tot his site but have found great info from this site before so I wanted to give it a try. Anyways I have a 2006 F350 6.0 and a couple weeks ago I have been having issues with my running lights. In the fuse box under the dash fuse location 17 blows as soon as I insert the fuse leaving me with a short somewhere, no instrument cluster lights (but the instrument cluster gauges work and operate fine), and no running lights on the truck. I have been looking for hours and days and cant seem to locate this short (witch I am assuming it is) if anyone can get back to me and help me with some advice or pointers or maybe even experience in there own truck. I'm not sure exactly where to start.
Please help

Did you check the power distribution box under the hood to make sure you have no blown fuses or relays in there? Check and make sure you have no fuses or Relays in there that are blown.
Next thing for you to check is your switch that you turn you headlights on and off with. Once you have determined your fuses under the hood in the power distribution box are good, put a good fuse back in slot 17 that was blowing. Then go and turn the switch on for the lights like you would if you were driving home at night.
If that fuse blows, then your problem is going to be with that switch. Try that and lets see if that triggers the fuse to be blown Sometimes that switch can go wonky.
Have you installed anything new lately ( trailer brake? new trailer connectors of the 4, 6, 7 pin varieties? put in a new stereo? added in anything where a wire could have been pinched? remote starter? ) anything where something could have gotten tapped into or moved around?

I had to replace the switch on mine, I opened it up and found the circuit board on the dimmer side had been shorting out causing the fuse to blow. There's a guy on EBay selling OEM Motorcraft parts, I bought the switch for like $53.00 free shipping, had it in about 3 days. Good luck, I hate tracing electrical stuff.
