polyurethane leaf spring bushings

Hey guys just a quick question. Im gonna put leaf spring bushings on my 93. Im getting polyurethane leaf spring bushings. I was wondering when I remove the old rubber ones do I completely remove the old one or do I leave the metal outer shell in there for the polyurethane ones.

Typically leave the outer shell ... But read the directions with the kit.

Some reading How-To Burn out Suspension Bushings: The Right Way

most of them if I recall correctly doesn't want to sleeve in there. when I did my leaf Springs I didn't and it's been fine. only problem was I can find the right one for my shackles. I have the molded in busing and after calling Energy Suspension and looking I still have not found one that fits. I have tried 4.2122 and 4.2144 and those didn't want I need to try 4.2128 and I think one other to see if they work. but I got tired of trying after the second one

I have energy suspension polys up front, mine said to pull the entire sleeve out. if you don't want to burn them out you can drill a bunch of holes through the old rubber, press it out, then chisel the sleeve out. also be sure to use a ton of grease to prevent squeaking.

I stand corrected ... I just called Prothane and for leafs the outer shell is removed on the kits used in these trucks.
