Proximity Unlock - No More Keys

Morning all, knowing the 2017 SD's will share a common cab with the F-150 (very excited about this...so much more room). I have a question regarding not having a physical key. Never owned a vehicle w/o one, and from time to time depending on the situation I like to leave my keys in the truck, and use the keypad to get in and out. With the new proximity key system (no key) is it still possible to accomplish this? Perhaps a setting n the productivity screen to disable the proximity key entry option? Thank you in advance for your help.

Yep. You can leave the key fob in the truck and lock and unlock with the keypad. That's what I do with my '15 F-150 Lariat.

This is a bad idea for a couple of reasons. First off, if someone breaks in they can just push the start button and go. Secondly, in some states (Texas) it's grounds for the insurance company to deny a claim in the event its stolen. (Due to leaving the keys in it.) It's a bull**** law, but it is what it is.

Thanks Bret. Spamfritter (love the handle) good call. Thinking I'll need a faraday pouch.

I tried this tonight. A couple layers of foil and the truck couldn't "see" the key in the cab.
