Can a 2 valve perform as good as the 3 valve

I want to purchase a V10 for my J-10 truck, I know this might be the stupidest thing you've read so far but I just love the way this engine sounds (at least how the 2 valve version does), they both put down good hp/ft-lb numbers.

Can you make the 2 valve perform as good as the 3 valve if I bolt some headers, do some head porting and maybe a even bigger throttle body?... can I make a 3 valve sound as good as the 3 valve?

No I dont want a dodge truck V10 and no the viper aluminium V10 is not designed to do truck like stuff xD, I want a Ford V10, yes I know mpg sucks but mpg sucks in FSJ's anyway.

I wish I knew what FSJ is lol

And no I'm pretty sure you can't get a 2valve engine up to 3valve performance- I recently started a thread asking for dyno sheets comparing the two and (to the best of my memory) it's a pretty significant difference.

Plus everyone on here reports no quantifiable difference by adding headers (they all say the butt-dyno registers improvements but not on a real dyno).

And I've been on this forum for a couple years and I haven't seen anyone talking about porting heads, nor bigger throttle bodies.

The only measurable power improvement I've seen is the 5star tune. (And rear gears of course).

We even have the occasional super/turbo charger guy in here and most of them make plans/promises but then mysteriously disappear without results. There is one guy who successfully has it though- we all doubted and harassed him a little bit until he finally sent a picture of it. I wonder who he was though.

I've rebuilt the rear diff engine and transmission, did a head swap on the stock L6 engine, used the stock 95' 4.0 H.O. intake and welded some aluminum plate so I could bolt a Quadrajet I picked at a junkyard. It is a good engine. but I just really want that V10.

Here are a few pics:

Cylinde head mockup, (I just noticed the mechanics assistant on the back xD):

Im missing a few more pictures but I have been driving it since rebuild for about 2 or 3 months. BTW I've worked this truck at a farm for years, I've drove it on sand, mud and salt water on weekends, it even drove me 14-1300 miles south the border to a place called La Paz, Mexico were I live now before engine rebuild. I now care about this truck and want it to have what I consider a great engine.

Very cool project.

And I can tell you as a 2V engine owner I wonder how much I am missing from a 3V.

I say go big or go home. Get you a 3V V10 and have at it.

Some other guys on this forum will have more specific details on what to look for (model year, transmission, etc).

PLEASE keep us posted on your awesome project.

In that size vehicle the 2v would still be awesome.

I'm pretty sure that you can make a 3V sound similar with a custom can...I think that's what people do with the newer V8s to make them sound like the V8s of yonder times. Don't quote me!

Im leaning toward's the 3 valve version, there's not much of a $$$ difference between 2 valve and its 3 valve equivalent. Shipping and handling + import taxes, well that's another story .

I do wonder if i can replace the drive by throttle body with a cable actuated one instead?

Something similar to this:

I could still keep my original pedal assembly :v
