Thread pattern 4R100 transmission drain plug

Hi all,

My apologies if this is already answered, but I could not find it.

I want to put a Fumoto quick-drain valve on my trans to make future flushes and final fluid adjustment easier. I can't for the life of me find what the thread pattern is so that I can check if Fumoto offers a valve that fits. I don't want to pull the plug to check with my thread gauge as I don't want to deal with the mess until I have the Fumoto in hand to put back!

I have the F-111N on it for the engine oil and it's great!

Thanks!
Danny

Did you check the Fumoto web site for the fitment. Here is there 800 number. (800) 918-3406
The only info I could find was for engines. You may want to know what size and
thread the current drain has so you can tell them when you call.

Fumoto® USA | Quick and Easy Engine Oil Drain Valves

Please select a make, year and model from the "Find Compatible Parts For Your Vehicle" feature above.

If you are unable to find your vehicle from the provided options, please use our contact form to let us know what you are looking for or call us toll free at (800) 918-3406.

Thank you.

I called Fumoto, but they said they don't keep a compilation of all the specs for transmissions and that the best way if you don't know it is to remove and measure the thread pitch and DIA yourself.

If I don't get a solid answer from the forum soon, I'll just find a time when the truck can be down a couple days, pull it to measure, and order the Fumoto. Was just trying to avoid having the truck down.

Not sure why I didn't think to do this first... I went to RockAuto's website to find a standard replacement plug. It calls out DORMAN 65428 (replaces OEM p/n F81Z6730AA) which has a thread pattern of M10 x 1.50.

Called Fumoto again, they do not make an M10 x 1.50, only M10 x 1.25. Also checked similar product ezoildrainvalve, but same story there.

So, looks like this is not possible unless I want to do some kind of adapter which could be pretty hokey...

Edit: I have to pull the plug anyway to do a minor repair, so I'll confirm that it's really M10 - that sounds pretty small now that I think of it.

To close on this, I physically confirmed the thread pattern of the drain plug in a 4R100 transmission as metric M10 x 1.50. Bummer, as the Fumoto valves make changes soooo much easier, especially on a lifted truck when the wind is blowing crap around!

What kind of " minor repair" requires the removal of the tranny plug. Can't be too much of a repair unless you're going fishing from below?

The minor repair was just the resolution of a leak. I had a new HD 4R100 trans put in, and it's been leaking just a little bit, like a couple drips accumulating at the drain plug overnight. Super annoying but I had been putting off trying to figure it out. Has not been very obvious where it is coming from. Confirmed level not over-full. Checked fill tube insert point, fill tube junction, top of trans, etc. nothing there. Pan bolt? Could be, hard to tell. Checked torque on those. I suspected a more obvious source which is the temp sensor since the shop that did the trans install had to swap the sensor over from the old trans. I also wanted to remove the plug itself to inspect for any burrs or obvious issues there. So, plug had to come out (that's where I thought I had a great opportunity to put a Fumoto back in its place).

While it was out, I could take my time on removing the sensor and Teflon-taping it (shop did not put any on). It also did seem somewhat loose so I seated it back in there snugger.

Hoping that that took care of it. Will give it a few days and check.

Update: She's been clean as a whistle the last week. Previously, it would have already re-collected drips at the drain plug, so I am considering the leak resolved.
