Question Lack of Power

I have a 1993 F150 4X4 Ext Cab with a 351 fuel injected, E4OD and 3:55 rearend.

Been battling a power problem and gas consumption problem for awhile now. Problem increases when towing my boat. Taken it to the Ford dealer and had it analized. Was told it needed O2 sensor and O2 wire harness, intake manifold temp sensor, egr vacuum regulator and a fuel injector flush. Well all is done and still no power gas mileage has improved to around 13 mpg from 9mpg. Cat's have been checked and no restriction. Had a tune-up, new fuel filter, fuel pressure is good and engine compression is good. No codes that I've been told of.

I've seen post about transmission problems and was wondering if this could be where my problem is. On occasion my trans does hard shift instead of smooth. When in higher gear while going up hills you can hear it bogging down. Give the gas and no shift down just more bogging. You have to floor it to get the kickdown.

Any ideas out there? The truck is beautiful with matching camper, I don't want to get rid of it. But if I can't figure sometning out it is going.

You more than likely have the E40D tranny. I would take it to a transmission shop and tell them what was done so they know. They will then drive it and tell you if they think it is in the transmission or not. Most likely it just needs flushed and serviced.

Took it to one and he said he didn't notice anything, said they would take it out and tear into it and check it out. That's alot of money, they ought to be able to notice something without a tear down. I had pulled pan and changed filter an trans fluid. There wasn't any shavings and the filter was clean. Listening to the guy I don't think he new to much about E4OD's.
