Got the luck of a dog

I just stripped both brake lines nuts on the RABS.

OH Yes, I was using craftsman line wrenches. Getting ready to put a torch to them and vise grips.

As GOD is my witness if I get this done I will never put another wrench on this truck, if I can not afford to pay to have it fixed the dang thing will set or go to some ones else's home.....

I am done!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all the help from you guys..............ya'll are awesome

Try my truck. I seem to be replacing everything and when I do there is still some issue not resolved. It's always another $500.00 I was going to put the truck in my name but I think I will put in my business name and write off everything.

Well.........It started raining again, so I will get a chance to cool down some.

I can not ever remember stripping a line nut since I started using line wrenches 40 yrs. ago, much less 2 in less than 5 min. today.

Yes there is a bunch of nasty grease/ oil in that area. I did use engine cleaner and a pressure washer to clean it up quite a lot. The line nut that has the brass valve on the RABS was so tight it broke loose before the line nut. So I had to put a 3/4 wrench on it before I stripped the line nut.

The only way I know how to get it loose is heat and vise grips. So you are saying not to use any heat and just go for the vise grips.
I just do not want to loose my cool and just cut the dang lines and then worry about flaring lines with new line nuts.

Im just saying it does not take.much to catch oil on fire. It coulr burst at the line and spray pil all over and oil that is misting is a flame thrower. Just know.

Get a 2x4 and push the brake pedal ALL the way to the floor, then wedge the 2x4 against the seat to hold the brake pedal down. This will keep the piston in the master cylinder extended not allowing any more brake fluid to enter the system.

After that cut both rear lines flush at the but and give it some time to drain out.

Heat up the nuts and then put some vice grips or whatever on the nut and smack it with a hammer. It'll be like an impact and break them free. Once they're out; celebrate.

Buy yourself some of that fancy brake line at the store. Not the green stuff, the brass looking stuff. It's like $70 for a 25' roll but you can bend it with your fingers super easy.

Run new brake lines and call it done.

Thanks......

I was trying to get the lines loose to put in a new RABS unit in.

Now I have stripped both line nuts I will try vise grips in the morning, if that does not work I will cut the lines next to the nut and get new fittings.
I'll try to fine my flaring tool before I cut them. I could care less if the line nuts come out of the old RABS unit......If I have to cut them.

Thanks for the info about the brake petal to the floor......I would have never thought of that.....
