04 f350 with an 03 6.0 P0275 cylinder 5 contribution code only when hot with rough id

I have an 04 f350 with an 03 6.0 motor. Truck started running very rough a two weeks ago. Checked codes and found p0274 and p0275. Both codes are for cylinder 5. I replaced #5 injector and truck ran like normal for a few days then began to miss again when operating temperature hits about 187+. It will show code p0275 once hot as it misses. When cold runs fine, starts fine. No smoke. Any thoughts??? Could I have put In a bad injector? It was purchased from AutoZone...

Um autozone sells 6.0 injectors? Not my first choice or second. I had to look, I think I pay less than that for a ford reman.

OEM remanufactured injectors are the only way to go. I would return the one from AutoZone and get one from a local dealer. Make sure you get your core back from AutoZone or get an additional amount back for the core.

There are some things a 6.0 should never have installed aftermarket besides an oil filter, and injectors rank right up there at the top.
Just ask the pro's, they will tell you the exact same thing.

Installed Ford injector. No change.

Installed Ford injector with no change. Still rough idle only when hot. Inspected harness and found no issues, not even a broken tab on the ficm. I'm wondering if I have a bad control circuit for cylinder 5. Any thoughts?

If you have an android phone get an ELM 327 Bluetooth adapter from Amazon or ebay and download the Torque app or FORScan app.. I use both. You can search on the forums for Torque Pro and find a lot of helpful information. The app costs $4.99 and you can find adapters from $10 to over $100. The BAFX adapter from Amazon is a good one for around $25.

The scan guage II.. or something like that, is another popular monitoring device that people like to use.

Thanks jmaskew! I'll likely get one on order. Has anyone seen just one channel drop out on a ficm though, only effecting one cylinder? I just find it odd cylinder 5 keeps coming up and only when hot. No coolant loss, no smoke, starts great cold...Thinking about getting it to a Ford dealer at this point.

I suppose it's possible once things heat up the FICM is acting up and starving #5 for some reason. Perhaps a solder joint that opens up just enough with some heat? I guess the only way to rule the FICM out is to try a good known unit, or send yours in for a once over. Any idea if the FICM has ever been worked on?

Sense I purchased the truck used I'm not sure. It does have a reman motor in it so I suppose the possibility is high. Only issues of had with it in the past 3years is an AC compressor locking up and a bad alternator. When the alternator went out I did have to jump it to get it home. I'm thinking that could have cause damage to the ficm. But that's been over a year ago.

What am I looking for if I do that? I've already put two new injectors in the same hole with no change to the contribution balance code.
